Week 75 Letter August 18, 2014

Week 75
8/18/14
Hello Family,
We had another really good week here in Coatzacoalcos. Even though I may not have much time left her in this area, I am really glad for the time spent here so far.

This week was really busy as usual.  We are finding a lot of new people to teach which keeps us running all over the place.  It has been a lot of fun.

Jajhanna, Pamela, and Angelo had a bit of a rough week.  They are still very excited about the Church.  Jajhanna told us this week that she knows that this is the true church.  Unfortunately, they were not able to go to church because their grandfather died.  Today, we are going to go teach them and I feel like it will be a very spiritual experience as we teach them about the plan of salvation.  We have a baptismal date planned with them for the 30th of August.

We also have a new investigator named Artemio.  He is Awesome.  He came to church this week.  He said that it was unlike anything that he had felt before.  He is the friend of Hermano Hector so he should have a lot of support from him.  We haven’t set a baptismal date with him yet, but I feel like he will be baptized soon.

We also started to teach a young man name NoĆ©.  To me, it was kind of like seeing me as an investigator.  He has many of the same interests as I do: studying medicine, working.  He is an all round good guy.  But he lacks the direction that the gospel brings.  We have only taught him once but he has already felt the need to change.  That the church will truly bring him happiness in his life.  I am really excited to begin teaching him.

Well, that’s all for this week.  Thanks for all of your love and prayers.

Week 74 Letter August 11, 2014

Week 74
8/11/14
Hello Family!
Well another week has gone by and we had another baptism! Arturo was baptized on Saturday, Now the whole family is together in the church.  Miriam, Mariane, and Kevin all gave their testimonies.  It was a very sincere spiritual experience.  I was able to do the baptism.  It had been a while since I myself had done a baptism.  Actually, the last one I did was Mariane.  It was really cool to see the entire family sitting together in the church on Sunday.

Well, we had another really busy and crazy week.  Not only did we have the baptism but on Friday we also had a zone activity.  The President came and taught us then we played soccer and volleyball together.  I actually played on the President’s team which was a lot of fun.  We also made hamburgers.  Elder Castaneda’s family own two burger joints and he had been working there since he was 12 so he made some really good burgers.  It was a lot of fun to spend some time with the President and the zone.

Paul and his family are progressing really quickly.  They all want to be baptized and we are planning a baptismal service for them on the 30th of August.  The only issue really will be Paul’s health.  This week he couldn’t go to church because he had to go to the hospital yesterday.  Hopefully he will feel well enough soon.  Pretty much once he is healthy enough he will get baptized.  I hope I will be here for his baptism.

Well, yesterday was a really cool sacrament meeting.  First of all, Arturo was confirmed a member of the church and then all of the talks were given by my converts.  Anabella, Fredy, and Miriam gave talks.  It was really cool to see that.  Anabella has a super great testimony.  I am excited to see what callings they are going to get.

Well that’s all for this week.  Talk to you all the next.

Week 73 Letter August 4, 2014

Week 73
8/4/14
Hello again!
It has been a fun and kind of crazy week.  When we’re all over the place, it has been a lot of fun to get to know more of Coatzacoalcos.

We had leadership council this week which meant another trip to Villahermosa and Elder Castaneda’s first council.  But he wasn’t the only one.  There were a lot of new leaders.  A lot of the familiar faces were either transferred or went home last transfer.  It was kind of different now being on what would be considered the experienced Elders.  I have really enjoyed this time in a leadership opposition.  It has been an amazing learning experience. And a lot of fun to get to know the Elders.

Well, now back to Mirador.  Although we were in Villa for a couple days, we were still able to have a lot of success.  Arturo is going to get baptized this week!  He was a little unsure during the week.  He felt like he was not ready to be baptized quite yet.  So we went with him and taught him the doctrine of Christ and why he has need to be baptized.  At the end, we all knelt down together and he offered a prayer to know if he needed to be baptized the week that is coming.  The Spirit came and testified that it was the correct decision.  He has now told all of his family that he is going to get baptized.

Paul’s children came to church as well on Sunday.  Jajhanna, Pamela, and Angelo all came.  Paul couldn’t come still because he is still not doing so well.  His kids are really excited about the church though.  We have a baptismal date set for the 23rd of August.

I am extremely excited for the success here in Coatza.  It brings a lot of joy to be a part of the work of salvation.
